FAQ’s
-
The Prenatal Lounge is a modern ultrasound boutique offering both elective 3D/4D/5D bonding ultrasounds and diagnostic medical ultrasounds performed by a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS). Our goal is to make every ultrasound a memorable and relaxing experience for expecting parents.
-
For elective prenatal ultrasounds, no physician order is needed.
For diagnostic ultrasounds (such as abdominal, thyroid, OB/GYN or musculoskeletal scans), a referral or order from your doctor is required.
-
We recommend scheduling your first elective 2D “sneak peek” ultrasound around 8–13 weeks, with detailed 3D/4D ultrasounds best performed between 26–34 weeks.
-
2D shows black-and-white, real-time images of your baby’s anatomy.
3D captures detailed still images of your baby’s facial features.
4D adds motion, showing your baby moving in real time.
5D (HD Live) enhances the image with advanced lighting and skin-tone rendering for a more lifelike view.
-
We can perform 3D/4D/HD elective ultrasounds as early as 12 weeks, but the best time to get the most detailed images is between 25 and 34 weeks. Specifically, between 28-32 weeks, the baby has more fat which will appear more detailed in the images. After 34 weeks, it may become more difficult to get good images due to the baby's position, as they may be facing downwards. However, this all depends on how the baby is positioned, so we may still be able to obtain great images up until 39 weeks. Our sonographer will work with you to determine the best time to schedule your ultrasound based on your individual needs and circumstances.
-
Our sessions range from 15 to 25 minutes depending on the package you choose. Longer sessions are available for twin pregnancies or signature experiences.
